Onkyo TX-SR309 5.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver
Continuing our mission to bring quality to every level of home entertainment, Onkyo presents the TX-SR309—an entry-level A/V receiver fine-tuned to power your system right out of the box. Set-up is simple and adjustments are easy, thanks to a new overlaid on-screen display. Also new at this level is PLL jitter-cleaning circuit technology to reduce distortion, and a front-panel USB port that provides a high-quality digital link to your iPod/iPhone. To get the best from your compressed audio files, the TX-SR309 employs Onkyo’s proprietary Advanced Music Optimizer. Naturally, the receiver also handles high-def, lossless audio in the form of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. These are carried by three HDMI inputs that also support immersive 3D video content. And whether you’re gaming in 3D or not, you can choose from four customized audio modes to match your gaming content. It all adds up to one high-value proposition.

Onkyo: Known for Toughest Build Quality and Best Sound Quality Available Built with legacy technology and matchless materials, Onkyo’s audio visual receivers are each in themselves heritage products. They are born of a deep commitment to the highest quality possible. Onkyo’s segregated body designs and rigid chassis ensure there is never unconnected, extraneous noise or interference. From the lowest bass rumbling, to thundering sound to ultra-high frequencies, an Onkyo A/V receiver faithfully reproduces every tone, pitch and note, resulting in the purest most powerful sound you can pull into your own home. And in your home, it will also look as great as it sounds Onkyo: Superior Connectivity Onkyo’s superior connectivity offers you the most varied options so what you watch and listen to is the best you can get. From the latest HDMI technology for blazingly realistic 3D video to network-readiness and wireless capability, to virtually limitless internet music, to phonograph components to remote control apps- your Onkyo can do almost anything you want it to do. Connect your iPod®/iPhone® via Front-Panel USB Port of the TX-NR309's and play audio files stored on your iPod/iPhone or even a USB flash drive. The on screen display lets you see exactly what is playing. As the audio signals are transported in digital form, rather than analog, there is much less chance for signal degradation. The TX-NR309 also incorporates Onkyo's exclusive Advanced Music Optimizer to compensate for lost bit information and improve the quality of compressed audio signals. End result: your music sounds cleaner and more faithful to the original. Easy Navigation- Changing your A/V receiver's settings is now more seamless than ever, thanks to the TX-SR309's overlay On-Screen Display (OSD) feature. With a simple press of the home button, the on-screen set-up menus appear overlaid on the video image you're watching. This means you can adjust the settings immediately, without having to switch back and forth from a blank screen background. The HDMI® implementation on this A/V receiver supports both 3D video and an Audio Return Channel (so you can hear your TV's sound in Onkyo quality). Onkyo A/V receivers make amazing 3D. An Onkyo will play 3D movies, games, and broadcast content in cinematic quality in your own home and will wow you with its realistic quality. The design is well laid out, intuitive and fast to power, snappy UI, etc. It is of moderate quality of construction - the outer surfaces are a little sharp, with buttons and volume controls feel a little thin / light / cheap: | But not a major concern in this price range and remember it is the lowest model in the series. I basically velocity component (DVD Decoder) plus a live WD HD TV with HDMI. My expectations were that I connect my old device component into the receiver and HDMI to my TV via a DVI-HDMI converter (TV is pre-HDMI). This is not the case - it is as the handset is actually two separate units in the house - an analog (component) and digital (HDMI): source component are visible only when using the receiver component and HDMI sources also are visible only when using the HDMI (DVI to a TV in my case) - you can not combine all sources into one output so I set 2x cables running to the TV, not a big deal in reality, the OSD is visible on an HDMI output - which is not on the components you will have to navigate around the screen on a line receiver, in this case (exactly the same menu). I recommend this product to anyone after a decent receiver with a budget, only to realize that he could not do what you want .. and probably does not know exactly what you buy / try for yourself. 6 of 6 people found this review helpful. Excellent entry level receiver Cicero I bought this receiver to replace a stereo receiver Yamaha 20 years was missing and had no digital inputs or outputs I recommend the Onkyo for use in an apartment or small house (I'm on a one-bedroom apartment ), and makes an excellent center for all components of your media center and an A + B speaker configuration. The Amazon price of $ 200 (including shipping) is an exceptional value for a receiver with many features. Here are the features I found most useful. * You can select a mode speaker mode only speaker A + B 5.1 or 2.1/2.0. * Digital inputs can be assigned to specific components. For example, I assigned to coaxial digital VCR / DVR (which is my HTPC) for digital audio output of the HTPC. * You can set the built-in PC and an external TV / (via an HDMI cable). * The use front panel input selection buttons, and not a button (which I prefer). * My old One-For-All universal remote supports basic operations (power, volume, mute, etc.) with an Onkyo 0135 setup code * USB port can be useful in the future. * It sounds good! 6 of 6 people found this review helpful. A nice 5.1 Home Cinema Receiver By tom126 From the moment I opened the box to complete the installation was less than 20 minutes. With a 32-inch HDTV OLIVIA old and poor speakers I finished with a new set, all I need to connect two shelf speakers I had on an old sound system and I was in heaven. Stored in the TV and got an excellent sound quality from just two speakers. With HDMI cables, the picture in HD is even better that the old component cables. Onkyo way to go. See all 16 reviews ....
