- Bose Acoustimass 3 Series IV - 2.1-channel speaker system and Onkyo Receiver Bundle

The Bose three speaker system bundle includes an Onkyo CD receiver. Two Virtually Invisible speakers deliver rich, clear sound - and are small enough to blend into any décor. The hideaway Acoustimass module delivers lifelike lows. Hide it behind a plant or in a corner, and all the sound seems to come from the small single cube speakers. Listen to CDs, MP3 CDs, and AM/FM radio. Connect additional sources to the audio inputs, such as an MP3 player. Wide Range Amplifier Technology provides a wide frequency response and reduced distortion, so all your music sounds true and clear.

I was looking for a decent stereo system that could play mp3 encoded cds, and discovered this Onkyo/Bose bundle. It comes with a good warranty, which suggests it should hold up to plenty of use. This is an etremely good system for the money. It takes up very little space, but will fill a room with quality sound. It's hard to believe such a full sound can be obtained from these small components. Be forewarned, if you like a lot of bass, you definitely need to tweak the Onkyo's bass boost (I'm using the maximum setting). Other than that, the separation sounds fantastic - a lot of(good)detail is revealed, and there's no distortion, at least at the volume levels I've dared to try. It would have been nice if the remote had a button to open/close the disc drawer, but otherwise it's very functional. Treat your ears! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Not great By not happy The sound is ok but I thought bose could have done a hell of a lot better. The sound coming from the floor display was different from the sound I listen to at home. The sound is missing something in the middle you have high and low and blank in the middle. Bottom-line I would shop around a little bit more before I bought a bose again. Sorry bose I waited a long time to get a bose and when I did it didn't measure up. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Klipsch Blows Away Bose By Sam Fisherman I have this system and it came bundled as shown and decided one day to remove the Bose speakers and connect the Klipsch SB-2 that I had sitting on my bookshelf. The sound was lacking depth and I was yearning for a better sound. It seemed that the highs were clipped at the higher end and the bass was clipped at the lower. As Bose likes to say, those bass sounds are not "real". I for one don't feel a defined bass with no power is "real". I had read somewhere that the midrange is channeled to the Acoustimass Module which is basically a small woofer encased in a box thus rendering it mono. When you do that the sound stage is lost. In a lot of music the midrange is very important to the sound and musicality. I am glad that I installed the Klipsch because my music have come to life. The sound stage that was lacking is now fully there. I've never heard my system sound so good. I am running the speakers with the Onkyo CD/Amplifier that is shown. I cannot say enough for the Onkyo receiver. It really puts out. Unfortunately it was putting out on an anemic speaker system. Now, I notice all the sounds that I hadn't noticed before on the Bose system. Ironically, it is Bose that markets its speaker for clarity. Yes, it does have some clarity but in the process it clipped away portions of the highs, the mids and the lows when it went with the small cube speakers and big bass module. They just cannot beat two full speakers especially the Klipsch SB-2. In effect, I upgraded to two speakers with premium one inch tweeters and 6.5" woofers. These speakers do not need a sub-woofer because the bass is so powerful but yet defined. Adding a sub-woofer would be nullifying some of the definition of the bass that you get from the speakers. If you already have one of these systems, I recommend that you try connecting them to a Klipsch SB-2. You will be glad that you did when you finally discover premium sound.
