Most Helpful Customer Reviews 100 of 102 people found this review helpful. Great value .. .. Features! By HomeTheaterFan My experience with the Onkyo 707 was a pure pleasure. I support. It's in my home theater. I think it is very important that I spend some time trying to describe the dimensions of my room theater speaker system set up so that you, dear reader, to determine whether expected my experience with the Onkyo you even if you are buying this particular receiver to be considered. My home theater is about 14 x 8 x 18.5 meters, which means the Onkyo power over 2070 cubic feet. The speaker system is 7.1, a Snell E center channel with the matching front L / R speakers E. Snell, you are normal sensitivity. The sides and rear surrounds JBL are modest. The subwoofer is JBL. The room is drywalled, heavily draped and carpeted. All electronic equipment is placed in an area controlled by stretching and IR repeaters Rather, a theater using a Pioneer receiver model VSX 37 5.1 THX TX. His performance score was ok, not much better a few years ago with the help of two Adcom amp, because it needed the 7.1 channel system and the necessary power to ensure that the front speakers. It was, in his time, a very high end. I did not have DVI or HDMI inputs / outputs. Over time it became clear that Pioneer could not do justice to the increased audio capabilities in the latest DVD and Blu-ray variety is added to my library. And so I started to read about the current market for the receiver, and read the experiences of others with this receiver, as well as competing models in the range of the Onkyo 707 price. This was my first Onkyo. Price: Listing for $ 899, is available in the range of $ 479-799 for Thanksgiving since 2009. Watch carefully and time your purchase here at amazon! I would like to emphasize that Amazon has always been very competitive in price and it was Amazon that I have decided on 707th It came on time and without trauma. The next model in Onkyo's line of 807th It lists for $ 1099 but price is obviously lower. Generally it costs about $ 200 more than the 707th The price difference between 707 and 807 and extends narrows from time to time. The 807 has slightly more power and a few other essential characteristics, otherwise acquired, it is very similar to the 707th At retail price, and considering the Onkyo 707 functions and general performance, the 707 is usually considered a midrange receiver. But it must be stressed that for 4x the cost, they are not 4x the performance of a second receiver, makes sense today, "midrange" receiver, very, very good for most purposes and tap economies of scale point before point. Effect: My Pioneer TX 37 recipients had a hard time running my Snell when applied to the DVD / Blu-ray movies, I often had to "beat" all of the maximum volume of Pioneer. And even then, often enough, the results were not satisfactory. Onkyo 707 handles the same speakers and theater rooms with stunning ease. I can not "call" Onkyo 707 to the MAX setting, but two bad things that happen, destroying my speakers and service of the divorce. I think I'm only about 35-40% of the 707 power, and it still results in an emergency "room shaking" sound from speakers that are built to thunderous bass, etc. and produce the base is clean! I called the Onkyo 807 above comment is the 707th power than the more humble I doubt whether it is legitimate, but the 807 because of the higher power purchasing power, stood alone. And so I give you my room size, so this review will be assessed as appropriate or not, depending on your needs. My feeling is that if the 707 has enough power for a given application, then the 807 or other reviews here, however, suggest that the Onkyo 607 is y. underpowered
