Polk Audio RM6750 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System (Set of Six, Black)

Introducing a complete home theater audio solution for people who crave true cinema excitement without breaking the bank.—the RM6750. The integrated Power Port Bass Vent designed right onto the back of the compact Satellite & Center Channel speakers-the same technology used in full-sized Polk Audio speakers-improves lower midrange response and all-important sub/sat blending, taking the RM6750 beyond the performance realm of any other sub/sat system in this price range. This integrated design reveals midrange with no “hole” in the frequencies between the sats and the sub, for male vocals that are rich and full-not thin and weak like other sub/sat systems. The RM6750 comes with its own subwoofer module, an 8 inch long throw driver and high current power amplifier for real ground-shaking bass thrills.

Polk Audio's RM6750 5.1-channel speaker system gives you a complete surround sound solution for your home theater without breaking the bank. The integrated power port bass vent designed right onto the back of the compact satellite and center channel speakers-the same technology used in full-sized Polk Audio speakers-improves lower midrange response and all-important sub/sat blending, taking the RM6750 beyond the performance realm of any other sub/sat system in this price range. Polk Audio RM6750 5.1-channel surround sound speaker set in black (see larger image). This integrated design reveals midrange with no "hole" in the frequencies between the sats and the sub, for male vocals that are rich and full-not thin and weak like other sub/sat systems. It comes with its own subwoofer module--an 8 inch long throw driver and high current power amplifier for real ground-shaking bass thrills. Key Features Satellites use a 3-1/4-inch (8.25cm) Polymer composite cone driver: lightweight and efficient, for clear, distortion-free midrange. The center speaker uses two of the same high quality drivers for even greater output capability. Integrated baffle and grille design allows maximum sound dispersion with minimum diffraction for superior imaging and room-filling sound. Everyone in the room hears clear, well-balanced sound. High performance 1/2-inch (12mm) silk dome tweeters for superior imaging and smooth highs. Mineral-filled polypropylene enclosures are non-resonant for great looks and natural sound. Individual satellites available to accommodate 6.1 or 7.1 channel systems. Integrated keyhole slot wall mounting brackets (two keyhole slots on center channel speaker) allow for easy wall mounting, with no extra brackets or wall mounts to buy; threaded inserts accept popular articulating brackets (sold separately). The Subwoofer, in a compact ported enclosure, features an 8-inch Long-Throw Dynamic Balance poly composite driver for longer driver excursion and better linearity, resulting in big, musical bass. Built-in Subwoofer power amp (50 watts continuous/100 watts dynamic power) with active crossover offers the control you need for real home theater thrills and big, musical, accurate bass. Features variable low-pass filter and volume (level) controls, as well as phase switching toggle, and signal-sensing Auto ON/OFF, for even more control and convenience. Heffernan I have not written product reviews on Amazon before but I find them to be extremely helpful and want to give some payback. In particular, I found the home theater system and home theater speaker reviews to be very useful. The Polk Audio RM6750 5.1 channel home theater speaker system is phenomenal and an outstanding value. I had originally been looking for a home theater in a box system to mate to a newly acquired 37" LG LCD HDTV. The search was partly precipitated by the demise of the older generation DVD player we owned coupled to a failing 10 year old Onkyo surround-sound system. As I poked around on-line reviews and shopped Circuit City and Best Buy it became clear I could get more value and flexibility buying a receiver, an upscalable DVD player (improved picture with regular DVDs on HDTV) and a new speaker system than with home theater in a box. The room housing our entertainment hardware is a family room -- 20 X 20+ with a vaulted ceiling, fireplace and hearth on one end and lots of upholstered furniture -- a relatively big space to fill. However, I did not want bulky speakers. I was initially intrigued by the Amazon reviews on the Yamaha NS-SP1600, quite favorable, great price and describe great sound output for small speakers. Sadly, I couldn't find these to purchase anywhere locally, nor get them from Amazon or even from Yamaha. I heard a set that I think were badly wired at a Best Buy -- good sound, not much power. Yamaha's next higher line NS-SP5700 were bigger and clunkier looking than I liked and I couldn't find reviews. They sounded OK in a poorly set up demo. I kept shopping and was very happy I did. I looked at speaker manufacturers' websites and rapidly coned down on the Polk Audio RM6750 as looking to fill the niche I sought balancing size, quality and price. I was able to listen to them in a well set up home theater showroom at a local Circuit City and was immediately sold on the clarity and power. I bought a set for $299; they're a steal at that price and better on Amazon for $249. I brought them home, hooked them up with the Yamaha 5930 receiver ($179) and upscalable Toshiba DVD player with HDMI ($89) I had also acquired and connected to the HDTV. This is a true dream system! The speakers generate enormous high quality sound. We tested them out with "Master and Commander" -- clear highs from all, natural voice from center channel, terrific oomph from the subwoofer and amazing surround sound experience in the early battle scene. Next test was a Down to the Waterline on a Dire Straits CD -- I heard notes I never knew were there with great balance and driving bass. (The Yamaha gives multiple modes of play including 2 concert hall variants, 2 movie variants, 2 and 5 channel stereo and a few others I haven't played with yet.) I have filled this large room with amazing sound without going beyond 60% of full volume. I am a very happy customer. I had looked at the low end of high-cost speaker lines -- Bose and Cambridge Soundworks. With them, you get single speakers in front and surrounds as opposed to 3+" plus tweeter in each of the Polk Audios. Also, the Polk Audio RM6750s sound better to my ears and cost much, much less. Speaker wiring is straigtforward; wire is not supplied and best to buy/use thick gauge to handle power. Speaker set up instructions from Polk are relatively meager, especially about the subwoofer, but their website is very informative and makes a compelling argument for hooking up subwoofer in parallel with front speakers rather than using subwoofer port and sound is terrific this way. 103 of 104 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic Speakers By T. Anderson I do consider myself to be picky when it comes to electronics. And I am absolutely floored that speakers this good can be had for a price this low. Does exactly what it's supposed to do By T Bass This antenna is designed to be a step-up from the wire antenna that likely came with your system. I use this in a high rise apartment with a steel frame, which wrecks havoc on FM signals. The Terk FM+ does not pull in stations from miles away that you normally wouldn't receive, but local stations that I previously had difficulty keeping static-free now come in crystal clear. If you're looking for an improvement to stations that are within range but need a little improvement, this product is for you. 31 of 32 people found the following review helpful. Decent antenna By D. Laurencic If you already have antenna, this may not be product for you. If you have just piece of wire as FM antenna that usually comes with receiver, then you should get this one. It's nice little multidirectional antenna. I think it works the same or better than T type antenna. So if you need FM antenna and you live in the city, this is the one to buy. You may consider active FM antenna if you need to amplify FM signals. In my case Terk FM+ worked just great. 41 of 49 people found the following review helpful. Unconvinced By Kim Callahan A few months ago I moved to a new apartment - less than five blocks away from my old one. The radio reception in my new location as I discovered though was terrible! Who knew a few blocks would make such a difference?! I looked around at a few different options. I wasn't willing to spend a ton of money because I really don't listen to the radio all that much. Although I had not previously heard of Terk, they seemed to have a good reputation. I settled on the FM+ Indoor FM Antenna for both its price and the Terk reputation. While it may be slightly better than the flimsy contraption that came with my tuner, I didn't find it to be the savior I had hoped for. I still can't get in the station I really want and some others are hit and miss (I was able to tune in these stations at my old apartment). Perhaps I'm just living in a bad area for reception. I have them connected to a Denon AVR-790 receiver. I am thrilled with the results - even though I have an unconventional setup. The living room and kitchen are conected as one 10 x 20 foot room - with a cathedral ceiling. Yikes! This is my first surround sound system, and suffice to say, I was overwhelmed with the many 5.1 choices between the HTIB (Home theater in a box) and all the individual receivers with separate speaker systems. However, I'm not a newbie to great sound. I could join the AARP if I wanted to! Anyways, I finally pulled the trigger and purchased the Klipsch 500 after many months of research online and hearing them at my local electronics warehouse store. The store gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. My requirements were that I needed smaller speakers for the decor and the lack of space. The Klipsch 500 fit the bill. Moreover, the 8 inch powered subwoofer is more than enough ooomph for TV, music, and movies. A nice thunder! My center speaker rests on the TV stand in front of the LCD TV on the Klipsch supplied rubber mat to hold it in place. It's inconspicuous and does the job of keeping the center speaker stationary. I purchased a couple of inexpensive speaker stands for the 2 front speakers. I mounted the 2 rear speakers "in the "kitchen" on the opposite wall that the TV is on. I appreciate that the satellite speakers all come with plastic adjustable wall mounts that you can position toward your ears. I needed the mounts to position the rears horizontally at 8 feet above the floor pointing toward the chairs. I ran my rear speaker wires under the floor in the crawl space to hide them. That helps! The only negative comment I have on the Klipsch 500 is the plastic spring-clip connectors on the back of the speakers. It does seem cheap - and not in a good way. I took off a star on my rating for the features because of that. But they do hold my 18 guage wire just fine. Conversely, I bought and used banana plugs to connect the other end of the speakers to my Denon receiver. That is a more secure connection. Nevertheless it's the sound I was after and the connections just needed to connect. All of them do. I used the easy-to-use Audyssey auto-setup that came with my Denon receiver to balance the sound and voila! Instant home theater! Okay, so it took a little longer than an instant, but the results are just amazing. Consequently, after 2 weeks of listening to the sweet sounds of 5.1 I would not hesitate to recommend the Klipsch 500 to anyone who wants crisp, clear, and big sound! I love em! I really love them! 17 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Awesome Clarity! By AmazonAddict I purchased these Klipsch HD 500s as a package deal with a Yamaha RX-V567BL receiver for my parents. I had tested them out along with some other comparable speakers at a local home audio store. They sounded awesome in the store, but sound even more amazing now that I have them setup and dialed in for their living room. They have amazing clarity and definition, yet still have a very full sound to them. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for surround sound speakers under $1000. They come with wall mount speaker brackets, but I opted to install them on some generic Atlantic speaker stands I picked up. They are pretty easy to install for those that are comfortable with audio equipment. My best recommendation for those looking for a surround sound package is to go to a store and listen to the different options. Just because speakers are expensive doesn't make them good. And just because someone tells you they are awesome speakers, doesn't mean you should take their word for it. There is always some subjectivity in audio equipment. What one person thinks sounds good, another person may hate. I recommend, though, that you take a listen to these as

Most helpful customer reviews 50 of 58 people found the following review helpful. Good Basic, but High End Features are Funk By ilande The advantage to this receiver (as well as the 507) is the depth fits most standard cabinets. This was my primary reason for looking at this receiver. I believe Onkyo is a good brand, and this receiver is better than my last, but it suffers in the high end features. The HDMI passthrough is bunk. It does not look at the audio through the HDMI, which I specifically asked about and was misinformed. NO AUDIO THROUGH HDMI! You must attach a seperate audio in cable, which is not a big deal but for two reasons. 1) this receiver only has two optical inputs and one coaxial audio inputs (so only three surround audio inputs, and no popular product right now using optical, so you really only have two surround inputs) and 2) The inputs are not assignable to the HDMI, so you actually only have one optical input that will work while your HDMI pass through is working. Essentially, if you use HDMI through this unit, you are restricted to one optical audio input and the other is dedicated to "CD" so you can run a separate HDMI cable to your TV, but this defeats the entire purpose of HDMI on the receiver. Not a big deal to me, but may be a deal breaker for you. So, to repeat, and summarize, HDMI INPUTS ON RECEIVER ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL ENOUGH FOR YOU TO EFFECTIVELY USE THEM. The price is great. $240 for a receiver with two optical audio inputs and an onkyo name? Works for me. This guy will NOT be future proof, and I will have to replace it if I want to have more than two surround sound sources, but that will be years from now, and I am now wise enough to know that IF YOU WANT TO HAVE TRULY GREAT VIDEO/AUDIO, YOU NEED TO BUILD A DEDICATED CLOSET IN YOUR HOUSE BECAUSE NO TELEVISION CABINET FITS MASSIVE HIGH END COMPONENTS, ONLY CONSUMER VERSIONS WITHOUT THE HIGH END FEATURES. I have my television floating on the wall with a tube running in the wall hiding the wires, and I have a beautiful setup, but I can't find components that will fit! I should have had a built-in placed during construction (NEED LOTS OF DEPTH!) or I should have ran the wires to the closet and dedicated it, but then you have the problem of IR-signals... Also, don't buy this unit for the microphone. It doesn't work at all. Perhaps this is because the instructions ask you to place all the speakers on the floor for calibration, and mine are installed flush in the ceiling and are not coming out. Basically the microphone won't work for high end users. Too bad. I'd return it, but I can't get anything better for this price, and if I spend more money ALL of the receivers have a larger depth which will NOT fit into any television stand (and believe me... I looked for over a year!) Great beginning receiver, works well, powers speakers to a reasonably loud volume, high end features are bunk, and you can't use more than two surround sources with this guy. Hope this helps! 13 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Not happy By R. Rand It's my own fault. I didn't fully understand all the technical terms. The unit has pass through HDMI connections which require additional audio connections to the component inputs from the TV to the receiver. Splitters are required because there is only one audio output from the TV and three component devices supported. I wanted to avoid the extra audio cables. Should have purchased a different (more expensive) model. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. great product at a great price By S. Zimmerman can't complain about the purchase. easy setup...good features. the only downside is that it doesn't convert component to hdmi so you have to run a component cable as well as hdmi to your tv. for me this won't be a problem as soon as i upgrade my dvd player to one with hdmi out. the person that complained about buying extra cables...well it's pretty simple. if you wan't digital surround sound you need some sort
