Revise I used the HP 3480 (the forerunner of this model) for five years and loved it. The 3490 is even better. The sound is more robust and complete, no different, just more refined. It is easy to power my speakers Klipsch Synergy and will pair well with any mid-level speakers. The 120W also inefficient speakers will have more than enough power to move air. Additionally, 3490 a major innovation: the digital inputs. This is a very good option for those who have taken the plunge to an all digital music library and use a digital jukebox, like the Roku Sound Bridge or Squeezebox. Both players are out of digital and pairs nicely with the 3490th The difference in the quality of digital or analog inputs is debatable, but my ear, from 3480 with analog cables to the optical TOSLINK to 3490, there was an immediate improvement in the clarity of the work songs of soft sound came to life. Details moles were more visible. It's a big upgrade for me. It is important to note that the 3490 analog fans do not let the cold. It has a very nice ribbon and a beautiful gold-plated stereo capture. In short, if your library consists of vinyl or MP3s this amp will do. The 3490 is a very intelligent update for 3480, making it the 21st century with a series of digital options. For those who depend on an iPod for music, there is no specific cradle for the iPod amplifier that allows you to easily play music on the stereo from your iPod while you control the remote HK. This amplifier is also XM Radio ready, just your XM receiver and HP allows you to control it is very difficult, subtle, to find high-performance stereo receiver with these properties. The market is sadly gone, moved to home theater, multi-channel world, but I am glad that Harmon Kardon is still loyal to their stereo receiver. The workmanship is very nice. The other notable feature is the speaker positions. They allow the use of banana clips or allow you to back naked wire in two different ways to make contributions. Nice solution of the two digital channels with a selection of M. Galicki owned formally a Rotel RX-1050 and decided to give it a try 3490th I prefer a really good two-channel amplifier to power my B & H 603 and Hong Kong gets the job done. What I liked about you can not find two other digital channels in the two amplifiers, XM, iPod integration and sub-2x out. For the price you really can not be overcome. The size is about 33% larger than my Rotel. The effect of more than 25%. The checks, of course, is very limited, the source of + balance + tone. No EQ. I had updated my system as the basis for many years, and I knew it was time for a change. I'm a fan of Onkyo (I have another AV Receiver Onkyo in the living room) and I was looking for a network connection, and with more power. One has to deliver. The quality, look and feel is top quality. It can be a 7.1 system, but powers 10 speakers, two submarines and three different zones / rooms! It has 11 speakers and two submarines (13 in total). Remember that episode of Frasier few years ago, where he bought a new sound system, and live like a Stonehenge speakers. Was scary at the time - but now it is clearly possible. If you use full-size speakers, you have a draw-dropping first printing. As it stands, I have 11 speakers and a sub, and allows different sizes - it's pretty impressive. The sound? Wow I played by Jean Michelle Jarre Aero - a 5.1 audio DVD. It knocked my socks off. The sound resolution and depth were astounding. The receiver also has a range of listening modes - so many that it takes more than two pages in the manual for this list. Different modes Dolby, THX and many more. There is a chart on front panel, the speakers used by each state is displayed. How do you change this, the speaker, the display - simple. Want to just two speakers? Fire? Eleven? Simple. So here is my experience, from unpacking to turning. Packaging: Extra-heavy. Double-thick interlocking foam box. The box is a lot of abuse in shipping. See my photographs. Unpacking: Typical anti-static foam tape, adhesive tape and scratch protection. Heavy equipment - takes two people to unpack, if you feel comfortable moving heavy weight. Installation: I find it easier to sit is a temporary platform at the same height as the rod of the device - I've always done it. In this case, two pockets to put it at about the perfect time this way I can connect all the cables and just sliding the drive into place. When we talk about so many threads is a big help. The RC180 includes a manual (thick!), Quick Start (handy!) and a sheet of stickers to mark the speaker cables. At first I thought - "Yes, I will need them!" The man they come in handy! The labels are a real timesaver. Again, see the photos. My BluRay player uses a network connection, and that makes this device. I had a network cable in the room, so had to add a hub to share the connection. I can not use wireless at home - is an old building, lath / plaster / steel mesh. It acts as a Faraday cage, and kill signals. The RC1800 uses a wired connection anyway, as my BluRay player. If you already have a wired connection in the room, keep in mind that you need a hub to add more outlets. It took about one hour for everything from unpacking to the disk to slide into place. Before placing the unit in place, I ran the test speaker This allows you to check the correct positioning. Again, it was very convenient. I had the front upper left and upper right front speaker connections changed (there are seven speakers - two front top, two front, two front and center width) fixed, then slid the drive into place. Again, I checked all AV connections. You can customize almost all connections. For example, I have my set DVD, use this component to 1 and 2 coaxial digital audio. My Video (yes, I still have a video player) uses the video input, and I have the TV set to use two optics. This allows plenty of customization and personalization. So I called all the entries, so the screen displays the text you want. So I ran Audyssey settings. I love this system. My Onkyo also used, and it's great. The RC180 uses a more advanced version. It tests the standard three listening positions and have an optional three additional locations to better suit only.

Excellent entry-level receiver with TA Clark, I wanted something that would handle my gaming systems well, be great for movies and television, and be easy enough to use that my wife and kids can enjoy without feeling intimidated. I also wanted a receiver that will be easy to maintain and manage relationships, and it really fits the bill perfectly. The installation was incredibly simple. For 360 and PS3 all I had to do was just connect HDMI cables to the inputs on the receiver and then another HDMI cable for TV out, and it was ... everything was ready to go to the connections. The screen is clear and easy to understand and speaker setup, whether it is easy to configure and treated in a manner that makes it a piece of cake to change at will. If you just want to start only, not with a fancy V-configuration, and you want something that sounds good and is scalable for a reasonable price, I could not find a better way, with this receiver, I realized that he set up with only two Front speakers go because of my library provision in the living room, and it still sounds excellent, even at low volume. It has a lot of punch and dialogue is clear when watching movies and television, much better than I had before. I'm really, really happy with it. Corleone I bought the Denon to replace my AVR-1910. I knew that he would step down in quality and performance, but I seem to like it better than my Denon receiver! Yes, there is an entry level receiver, but good for those who want to get into the Manual HT for the first time is confusing, but I was thinking too much about certain things because I was very useful for Denon. The performance is very good for the price. I went from a configuration of 6.1 to 3.1 and the receiver play my Blu-rays better than expected. The music sounds great too. Do not worry about any of the things CinemaDSP I play just all the 'right' way and let all your course. Autumn advice for beginners, get good sound speakers first and then concentrate on the receiver. It is good if you spent most of their budget for HT speakers (like me). Recommended. I needed a home receiver Hadeishi entry-level AV to use film to visit another city for several months, for work that has a high-end unit that I use to Onkyo home theater. I'm not expecting this much, given its very low price, but I was pleasantly surprised with the wealth of features and settings and the sound quality. It's four HDMI inputs, it is very easy to use, can make optical and coaxial digital audio, and still has connections and optional Bluetooth iPod / iPhone dock. There are a variety of DSP settings. In fact, I have this as part of the package home theater Yamaha --- again, not expecting much given the low price, but sound quality is pretty impressive for the money. Clear mids and highs for these speakers cheaper --- the bass is slightly boomy and muddy, but you can not have everything at this price. You can connect more expensive speakers, of course, to this unit, and even better results. I have to hand it to Yamaha for making a solid entry-level Read 17 customer reviews ....

It was a bit of a low-end device. It started buzzing and I decided it was time for change. I have two beautiful Wharfedale floor standing speakers, a center of Nice, decent rear surround and two really good sub-woofers. I read the extensive reviews on various brands and decided I would buy Onkyo. I went to Fry in search of the 606-model. They had just sold the 607th and 607th, I bought the HDMI-based I wanted something that did sound via HDMI cables. The thing was a snap to set up. Make sure you have an HDMI cable to your TV to the receiver so you can program on-screen shots. Like I said, I have two sub-woofers and 607 has two output RCA jacks to activate two subs. No RCA splitters. I fired it up and was startled by the sound quality. The thing sparkles and the lows are clean and I am deeply individual speaker levels with a Radio Shack db meter with an easy to use menu Onkyo set. I have no calibration system built into the receiver. A few trips around menus, and you have mastered them. The menu system is really easy. Unless you have some really expensive speakers, this unit is for you. Excellent sound quality, easy setup and menus make this a good choice for beginner or middle range of home theater enthusiasts. Replace an aging Pioneer VSX-21, which I never quite got to. Love Audessy 2eq funtionality of this device. In the past I automatic speaker set-up which was very easy to have (my daughter was sent through the test tones, it tickled). The problem was with the over-Amped subwoofer, but easy to fix. I have not tested the apparatus with the auto-volume, or auto-eq, so can not compare the CNET review was still really bad at it, but so far I like being able to hear everything without my wife's jet out of the house! Someone mentioned that the step does not have HDMI, but it is incorrrect. What does. You have to pull the lever in the setup menu, but it's there. The scale of non-HD TV leaves much to be desired but otherwise I think it really improved my vision from my HD box FiOS. My only negative so far if you can call interface is not XM, Sirius alone. I hope the merger will not be a big problem, but it's not really a very negative at all for me. I would have preferred HD-Radio unit was built at the site of HD-ready, but again, do not listen to the radio much. The remote control could be better. I hate having to press the button on the receiver, but when I programmed the universal that it will go in the box with everyone else. I've been up to this model vs. the Denon 1909, but after reading all the stories about how difficult it was to set up, and the extra $ 71 off at checkout, this choice actually an easy solution. I have not met any of the buzz or performance of the hot topics, as many have argued for other Onkyo units. I'm beginning to think it is a myth. I used to sell stereos and I had more Denon's back on me than any other brand. One even caught fire in the showroom. Never had problems with Onkyo. No other receiver in this price class can come close to this value. UPDATE: Two years now and still very happy with this unit. It's a little 'picky at times to turn on in sequence with a cable box and TV with universal remote, but otherwise a great buy. Great sound, creates an immersive environment, but confusing to install and administer Adam I Preface this review by saying I'm not a die-hard audiophile who is interested in the patterns of internal circuitry and how they are discreet, if you do and do not use premium toroidal coils and everything else. I love watching Blu-ray movies and play HD video, listen to music and make the whole experience sounds good. So with that in mind if you are looking for a thorough analysis of the results of this device with speakers that any reference to price on a grand piano, you can search for a second review. ;) It took a while "for me to write this review. Especially since this is a really complicated piece of equipment. It has more connections, more buttons, and the highest regard for the configuration of my home network computers. Do not let this get away, however, is absolutely remarkable receiver will try to convey the experience I had with him, so hopefully you can get some value from reading my wall of text revision. My setup: I'm not using any of this spectacular speaker. The first installation: Connections - This is where the confusion begins. It is a 7.2 receiver, but it is * more * than seven channels that can be connected. But it can only be seven channels simultaneously, and that is why it is labeled as 7.2. I think "0.2" comes from the fact that it has twice the sub-channel outputs, for people who think that a subwoofer is not enough. If you look at the connectors this thing has is frightening. It has an incredible amount. HDMI, Component, S-video, composite, USB, 11-ports for the speakers (yes - eleven), subwoofer connections, low level audio outputs, antenna connectors, coaxial connectors, serial port, optical ports, a CAT-5 cable input to hook the case to the Internet / World Wide Web, and other links that I do not know what their purpose is Whew! The struggle against the manual clears up some of these things to some degree. If your connections, you will notice that the entries are grouped according to their proposed purpose. One example is cable / satellite section. It has an HDMI input, component video inputs, one S-video input, composite video input, coaxial audio input and two RCA inputs for audio (left / right). Not all groups have so many, and some have different options such as "play" - it has an optical audio connection. This is for flexibility. You want the best input device supports the best performance, obviously accustomed. It would be foolish to make a nice DVD player with component output and optical audio in and attach it to your receiver with composite video and RCA audio connections in this sense is the best out of your gear stick and play them in order with what makes the most sense with your equipment. I recommend it to all get down on paper before you start plugging everything else you'll end up and.

Most helpful customer reviews 70 of 71 people found this review helpful. Excellent receiver Andrew Philip Marantz NR1501 slim-line model is only about 4 "tall and really good receivers in the crowd. I bought this to replace a Sony STRG810. It was a toss up between a Denon, Yamaha or Marantz. STRG810 Sony was an ideal receiver for movies, but sound quality lacking in the music department (too much reverb). Comparing similar models, Yamaha brighter and Denon, Marantz and Denon was warmer then, so I went with the Marantz. I NR1501 compared the Marantz SR6004 Marantz model to a ($ 1300) side by side, and the sound quality was almost the same except SR6004 is a little more fully at 110 watts per channel. I have also compared the Marantz Harmon Kardon NR1501 to NR1501 AVR254 and the Marantz sounded a lot better. The Harmon Kardon digital seemed too thin and the Marantz sounded true to its source. I am very pleased with how it is warm and clear sound quality while listening to music or watch movies NR1501 The 50 watts is more than enough power to feed my reference set of Klipsch speakers for 13 'x 17' room. You might think that 50 watts is too low, but rates their receivers Marantz lower than they are capable of. For example, rates their receivers from Sony by putting a meter in the middle of a rehearsal room and increase the volume as you can go -. Distortion and all, but to highlight what the output is the Marantz has the same procedure, except when you get into distortion that comes back from just a little 'and note watts. That's why you'll find a lot of Marantz receivers are classified in 50.70 or 90 watts, which is much lower then some 100,110 watts of competition. I usually set all parameters (frequency crossover, speaker distance, level of db, etc.) to ear as I buy with any receiver. I wanted to see how well this receiver would do with the auto calibration, so I drove the receiver comes with a microphone, so I put it on a tripod, set it to the listening position and allow the car cal procedure. Auto Cal took about 3 minutes and played a series of test tones. When that was finished, all the levels adjusted to the listening position. For the price, simply the best audio receiver, W. Schmidt, I just upgraded my home theater system for a five years old HTIB. I picked up the Orb Audio speakers (great little speakers, good price) and the Marantz 1501 NR first three receivers I tried before settling on the first NR 1501 I first searched for Denon 1910th It sounded really good, but was too long for the space in my entertainment center. I ended buying a Yamaha RX-V465 BL. I was disappointed with the clarity of the voices in film and television, and even set the sound was very difficult and very directional took this back to Best Buy. I heard an Onkyo TX-SR507. This had a decent sound quality, balanced but not as soft as the Denon. It also fits in my entertainment center, and the price was fair. Finally finished checking the NR1501. I do not seem particularly large, due to lower power (50W per channel), but apparently underestimates considerably Marantz equipment and cut the rating before distortion occurs. Whatever the reason, in any case, this receiver has smooth, clean tone, clear and sound of them all. I tried to make side by side with the speakers right in the VS store. Onkyo and Denon (forget the Yamaha, which sounded like crap compared to three) and is continually surprised by how rich and everything seemed clear. I went with the Marantz - to 599.0 00 (current price of Amazon), you can not even come close to this quality of the sound volume can be so low that my wife can sleep with the extension.

It's in my home theater. I think it is very important that I spend some time trying to describe the dimensions of my room theater speaker system set up so that you, dear reader, to determine whether expected my experience with the Onkyo you even if you are buying this particular receiver to be considered.
